Pre COVID I couldn't bake for sh*t. And that's not me being self deprecating, I was a complete liability even with a Betty Crocker box mix 🫣 I used to wish I could whip up a batch of scones that weren't like rocks, or a sponge cake that didn't sink in the middle and taste like eggs 🤢 and just be like those mam's in the movies who effortlessly take homemade cookies out of the oven for their family getting home....
Eventually, with LOTS of practice, I bagged a job working for 2 amazing women who were opening up a new cakery as their baker and had the best 2 year being part of their team!
In October 2023 I launched the cake kitchen and jumped into self employment, totally terrified. I attended local church fairs and craft sales and joined a local creative network to get my business out there. It was a lot of winging it, trial & error and guess work, but eventually things started to fall into place.
I rebranded to 'That cake girl' In January 2024 and haven't looked back since! I've got the best support/customs ever and am lucky to have a fully booked & busy diary 🥰
After continuously selling out early at markets, I'm ready to open my 1st shop on 28th June and I cannot wait to have my house back 🤣
